School-enterprise Joint New Technology-Natural Rubber Motorcycle Inner Tub Upgrading
When a motorcycle is running at high speed on the road, the internal temperature of the tire increases, and the temperature of the inner tube changes sharply. Although tire heating does not directly affect the driving of the vehicle, it will indirectly affect the safety of the vehicle. High tire temperature is one of the important reasons for frequent tire burst accidents. After a long time driving, the heat accumulation inside the tire is intensified, which leads to the rapid decline of the mechanical properties of the inner and outer tire compound. At the same time, due to thermal expansion and contraction, the temperature rises, resulting in increased tire pressure, and tire blowout accidents are prone to occur at weak inner tubes.

Recently, Xindongyue Group and the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering of Qingdao University jointly tackled key scientific research, broke through the key technology of modified magnesium silicate compound, and applied it to the preparation of inner tube compound and the manufacture of inner tube products, successfully completing the upgrading of natural rubber motorcycle inner tube with high temperature resistance and low odor. The evaluation data show that the prepared natural rubber motorcycle inner tube has little rubber odor, and can still maintain high mechanical properties at high temperature (120 ℃), with tensile strength above 12.1MPa and elongation at break above 460%. After hot air aging (120 ℃× 48h), the retention rate of tensile strength and elongation at break are above 95% and 91%, respectively, with good thermal stability. The technology has been applied for national invention patent protection (patent number: 202310970746.4).
